Community Advisory Board

The Laurel Valley Transportation Improvement Project's Community Advisory Board (CAB) is a vital part of the overall public outreach effort for this project. The purpose of the CAB is to provide for a comprehensive and orderly means of identifying and evaluating local community interests and concerns in a timely manner throughout the project development process. The primary goal of the CAB membership is to facilitate the timely exchange of pertinent ideas and accurate project information between the project team and the community.

The CAB provides input that reflects the diverse interests represented throughout the project area directly to the project team. The project team is responsible for further evaluation of this input based on engineering, environmental and/or financial constraints of the project.  It is a challenge to have a representative of every interest that exists throughout the project area and stay within a desirable group size. However, the goal of the CAB membership selection process is to effectively identify a cross-section of the interests that best represents the community at large.

The Laurel Valley CAB was organized in July, 2003 and its members represent a wide variety of interests including agricultural, environmental, land use, transportation, economic development, business, emergency services, historic preservation, generational equity, and residential.
