Farmlands

   Agriculture is also a major land use occurring throughout the study area. Most farms within the study area remain viable and are family-owned. The majority of the farmers have at least a portion of their farm contained within an Agricultural Security Area (ASA).

   The project team will conduct agricultural area analysis and assessment. In coordination with the study area municipalities, the project team will determine areas covered under the Agricultural Area Security Law. The project team will use aerial photography and field investigations to determine areas under active agriculture. This information, along with field verification, will be mapped on the environmental constraints mapping to determine alternatives that minimize impacts to the agricultural resources in the area.
